MIA Summary
Fellows become MIA (“Missing in Action”) when a Career Mentor has not heard from the fellow for two consecutive weeks. Typically, in order for this to occur, the fellow has no-showed at least 1 meeting, received at least 1 infraction, and has not connected with the Career Mentor in spite of these actions.
Step by Step
Step 1: Try to prevent an MIA in the first place by getting in contact with your Fellow
- Reach out proactively to your potential MIA fellow, including giving them a call if emails have gone unanswered, and discuss with your Career Lead (CLs) in a 1:1 or asynchronously if any fellows have gone MIA or are beginning to be unresponsive
Step 2: Once a fellow has been unresponsive for 2 consecutive weeks, use the Submit ticket link to notify CXOps that your fellow is MIA

Step 3: Reconnect with your fellow, inform CXOps
- If your fellow gets in touch with you first, use the Submit Ticket link to let us know they're back in touch with you so that we can update their status in SFDC

- If they get back in touch with us first, we'll connect them with you via email
- Respond to this email warmly:
- letting them know you're excited to begin working with them again
- sharing your Calendly link
- reiterating that they need to book time with you ASAP so you can resume their job search!

MIA FAQ
Q: Is the fellow notified when they're marked MIA?
A: Yes! They receive an email with the subject line "Infraction issued for MIA – please read and get in touch!" You should also be copied on that email. Here's the email copy.
Q: How long are they supposed to be MIA before they're infractioned out?
A: They're supposed to receive emails for 6 weeks or until they hit their final infraction, whatever comes first.
Q: Do I need to do anything when they receive their final infraction?
A: In theory, no. That's because they'll receive another email that CXOps is copied on, letting them and us know that they've reached their final infraction and will be withdrawn from the program. You should also receive that email, which is the second set of copy in the doc linked above.
