Terms of Service Updates (October 2024)

Summary of changes

In early October 2024, the Terms of Service were updated. Here's a summary of those changes:

  • Definition of placement changed from an “offer received” to an “offer accepted”
    • Income increase guarantee addendum (IIG) no longer relevant or being used, as the IIG hinges on the definition of placement being an “offer received,” then giving them the opportunity to turn it down if it’s below what their W2 income was when they started the program
      • Here is a link to the IIG Template that was being used
  • Parameters around survival jobs being outlined and clarified
    • “To be considered a placement, (i) the contract duration must be 90 days or more, and (ii) the job offer must not be in the industries of Personal Care and Service Occupations or Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations as defined by the US Bureau of Labor”
  • JSP expectations post-trial
    • “If I choose to stay in the Program past the Free Trial, then I agree that my Job Search Plan sets reasonable expectations for what I can expect from Pathrise and what Pathrise can expect from me. I understand I may receive a qualified Placement for titles not in my Job Search Plan. I understand I will be held accountable to my Job Search Plan by receiving Infractions if I do not follow it, as detailed in the Code of Conduct. I understand that Pathrise will work with me to adjust my Job Search Plan in my best interest at any time if they feel the parameters aren’t sufficient for my job search.”
  • Withdrawal fee and financial contract:
    • “Only after I pay my withdrawal fee, Pathrise agrees to cancel my Income Based Repayment.”

How these changes impact Career

Outside of having a general working knowledge of our policies, this will impact how you support your fellows because at this time and for the foreseeable future, you will have fellows with different versions of the Terms of Service. These different versions will mean that "Placement" is defined differently for the fellows you're working with:

Certain fellows will be "placed" if they receive a qualifying offer and certain fellows will be "placed" only if they "accept" a qualifying offer.

To verify the version of the TOS that your fellow has, locate their signed TOS in their Google Drive Folder.

Here are links to the current version of the TOS as well as some previous versions of the TOS that were recently archived:

  • Current TOS:
    • updates from previous version noted above
  • Archived 10/3/24:
    • updates from previous version remove "income based repayment" language to allow for new loan products that require in program payments and
    • removal of $24k, $18k, and $12k "cap" language
  • Archived 9/19/24
